Most online AI tools can transcribe audio, in theory. In practice, they choke on large files, silently skip sections, or just fail halfway through. You end up trying three different services, manually splitting recordings, and still not trusting the result. That frustration is exactly why Transkribeer exists.
Transcription works two ways. Bring your own OpenAI or Gemini API key, or use local mlx-whisper on a Mac to keep everything on your machine. And if you don't want to set anything up, Instant mode transcribes without an account or API key and bills per second of audio. You can also run multiple providers in parallel and compare the results side by side, since each handles accents, background noise and audio quality differently.
Drop your audio files in, or record directly in the app: your microphone, the system audio of a call, or both mixed. Transkribeer handles the rest. Long recordings get automatically split into chunks that respect each provider's limits, transcribed in parallel, and reassembled seamlessly. Results are saved as text files right next to the source audio, ready to feed into whatever workflow comes next. FFmpeg ships inside the app, so there's nothing to install.
What started as a Mac-only tool now ships for macOS, Windows and Linux. The name is Afrikaans for "transcribe", though it sounds perfectly Dutch too. It went from first commit to twelve releases in two days.
